Risk and survival sit at opposite ends of a balance held in place by fear. Between them, fear operates as a defense mechanism that paradoxically urges us forward while warning us to protect ourselves: a double-edged force that has accompanied life since its very first moment.

There are manuals, recipes, formulas that promise to overcome fear. Yet the only constant is its power: the power to alter destinies, shape histories, determine the course of entire societies. Fear has been a political tool, an intimate emotion, a cultural inheritance: an affect of multiple intensities, capable of transforming the fate of any story—just as hope can.

With this collection, I wanted to strip fear of its stigma of weakness, insecurity, or limitation. I choose to see it instead as a generator of awareness, as an impulse that drives us forward and pushes us to take artistic risks. Fear, then, not as a barrier but as a threshold: not as an obstacle, but as a condition for emancipation and a key to discovery.

The secret is not to fight it, but to place it on your side.

Spinoza understood this when writing about passions and affects: what matters is not condemning what is dark, but illuminating it. So-called negative passions are not evil in themselves; they connect us to the world and offer the possibility of transformation. To understand fear is the first step toward liberation—to transmute it into vital force, into progress, into creativity.

Fear is born from this conviction: as a reminder that fear is not an end, but a condition of freedom.
