Design of Christmas lighting for the Madrid city

Never let
me down

In 2010, Ana Locking was invited by Madrid City Council to design the city’s Christmas lighting, bringing her creative imagination to the heart of the urban space.

Installed on Fuencarral and Montera streets, the proposal conceived light as a moment of celebration suspended in the air. Against the backdrop of Madrid’s night sky, the design unfolded a dynamic constellation of light points that evoked the ephemeral explosion of fireworks, transforming the urban landscape into a vibrant and emotional experience.

More than a decorative gesture, the intervention proposed a contemporary interpretation of Christmas: a landscape of moving light where energy, desire, and wonder intertwined with the pulse of the city. With this project, Ana Locking expanded her language beyond fashion to activate public space as a poetic, collective, and deeply alive territory.
