“Gestures that Speak” NFTs – Ana Locking Limited Capsule Collection
Ana Locking, in collaboration with Metric Salad, presents a virtual space and a limited, experimental capsule collection of NFTs inspired by the designer’s iconic nails, introduced into the metaverse to celebrate diversity through gesture.
The collection consists of five nail designs conceived as digital art pieces that seek to give image to words through movement, creating a symbolic and universal language through hand gestures. In this visual universe, each gesture becomes an expressive icon capable of communicating anywhere in the world.
Among the selected gestures, the ‘Snap’ —the finger snap typical of Ballroom Culture— stands as an emblem of celebration, inclusion and unlimited creativity, while the ‘V’ formed by the index and middle fingers symbolises the victory and triumph of rights and integration that the LGTBIQ+ community has achieved through decades of struggle and resilience.
Wearing the gesture is also a tangible fashion experience: these nails are art and a symbol of a queer sense of aesthetics, understood as inclusive, accessible to anyone regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, questioning the normative and offering a space for self-affirmation. Putting these nails on your hands is, at the same time, a symbolic act of transformation, empowerment and freedom to be who you really want to be.
As the collection explains: ‘Let yourself go and allow your hands to become a journey through the celebration of diversity and creative exuberance, an experience that transforms everyday gestures into an act of liberating expression’.
